WHY LIME?

Limestone promotes vigorous pasture growth.

Limestone conditions your soil and maintains a proper pH level essential to good soil condition. Very acidic soil with low pH, or "sour soil," is not conducive to healthy pastures.

Active pastures continually remove soil nutrients and release hydrogen which boosts acid. Magnesium and calcium, which naturally help neutralize soil acidity, are routinely washed deeper into the soil, away from plant roots, by rainfall. Regular application of limestone naturally neutralizes acid in your soil. With proper pH level, beneficial micro-oganizisms thrive and continually break down thatch, reducing damage from insects or disease.

6.0 20 35 50
5.5 45 75 100

When's the best season to spread lime? Apply lime in spring or fall. Most people think of spreading lime in the spring but fall is a great time to apply lime. In regions where temperatures fluctuate above and below freezing, soil expands and contracts, and the motion works the lime into solid particles. In regions where temperatures are mild in fall and winter, the increase in moisture "percolates" into the ground and coats the soil particles with lime.

What is the difference between Pulverized lime
and Palletized lime?

Which do I use?

The fine dust or pulverized lime, is the white powder that has been around for hundreds of years. Great for tilling into pastures. In the late 1960's a sugar-textured lime was developed called granular limestone. It is practically dust free but is a little slower reacting. The newest innovation is Pelleted Lime. The quick acting pulverized is formed into a dust-free pellet, which can be spread quickly with a rotary spreader.

All our exclusive fertilizer formulations contain no rock or filler. They are created with micro nutrients and lime to better assist your pasture and provide a better value for our loyal customers. Most fertilizers on the market are mostly filler. For instance a 50/lb bag of 10-10-10 contains only 15/lbs of fertilizer. Now ask yourself if your pasture needs any more rocks?
